New system (starts March 12/14, 2026) : The upgrade introduces a stepped issuance model : ✅ Right away (first 2 years) : emissions are reduced by 53.6%. ✅ Then, every 2 years after that, the remaining issuance is cut by another 13.14%. 🛑 Total DOT supply will be permanently capped at 2.1 billion tokens by the year 2160.
