🚨 MASSIVE CRYPTO BLUNDER 🚨 South Korean exchange Bithumb accidentally distributed 620,000 BTC ($40 – $44 BILLION) to users during a promotional “Random Box” event. Instead of tiny KRW rewards, an internal error sent huge BTC credits. The mistake briefly caused a sell-off and a price plunge of 10–17 % on Bithumb’s BTC market before the exchange froze accounts and recovered nearly 99.7 % of the coins. Bithumb says this wasn’t a hack but a promotional payout error, and regulators are now investigating internal controls.
