Good afternoon CT here's a thread on the security rationale behind FolksFinance’s design. 1. Bridges Are DeFi’s Weakest Link Cross-chain bridges have historically been the single largest source of hacks and losses in DeFi, with billions lost to exploits like Wormhole, Ronin, Multichain, and others due to smart-contract flaws, validator key compromises, and structural vulnerabilities. Folks Finance avoids this entire class of risk by design. 2. A Deliberate Security-First Choice @FolksFinance deliberately does not bridge liquidity no user funds are moved between chains via bridges. Instead, the protocol uses messaging only to communicate user intents and state across networks a huge architectural decision that minimizes traditional bridge-related risk vectors. 3. Messaging With Secure Protocols Folks relies on trusted cross-chain messaging infrastructure: • Wormhole secure messaging relayer between chains. • Chainlink CCIP decentralized oracle-backed messaging protocol. • Circle CCTP for native USDC messaging when needed. These protocols ensure signed, validated messages travel between chains not asset movement. 4. Liquidity Stays Safe on Its Home Chain With Folks’ model: • Liquidity *never physically leaves its native chain. • Only instructions e.g., “borrow,” “repay,” “update position” are transmitted securely between chains. That means no funds locked in a bridge contract that could be drained by an exploit. 5. Attack Surface Reduced, Composability Preserved This messaging-centric approach drastically reduces the attack surface there’s no big pot of bridged capital sitting at risk. Yet, multi-chain interoperability and composability remain strong because Folks orchestrates operations via secure cross-chain messages. 6. Security by Design, Not Reaction Security at scale isn’t about cleaning up after hacks it’s about architecting systems where hacks are much harder to execute. By eliminating traditional bridging of assets and managing cross-chain state via secure messaging, Folks is prioritizing robust safety at the protocol layer a future-proof way to scale secure multi-chain DeFi.
