CIC is a Layer-1 blockchain based on its original Imprism technology, which is a hybrid consensus mechanism that combines PoS, PoA, and PoR (“Proof-of-Refraction”).
Proof of Refraction describes the way in which the blockchain 'refracts' data into smaller pieces in several directions at once. Once the refraction occurs, the smaller chunks of data are stored into the blockchain, where they remain forever. Because the data is split across several nodes, each one has less work to do, making the whole process up to 90% more efficient. Whilst all information is still stored on the blockchain, the refraction process allows accessing only the parts needed on demand, thus increasing speed.
Imprism has zero finality which means that transactions are confirmed instantly, then sent to be processed by the blockchain. The block time for CIC Chain is currently 5 seconds, according to the project.
Crazy Internet Coin ($CIC) is the native coin for the chain.
