ME AI Message, Beating AI Flash News: In its second phase, the Chinese Central Cyberspace Administration has launched a special campaign titled "Clear and Bright: Rectifying AI Application Chaos," focusing on combating the use of AI to generate and disseminate false information, violent or vulgar content, impersonation of individuals, and violations of minors' rights. To date, the campaign has removed over 5.61 million illegal and non-compliant messages, suspended more than 49,000 accounts, and dealt with over 2,400 non-compliant websites and applications. In terms of AI content governance, platforms such as Douyin, Kuaishou, Weibo, Tencent, Baidu, Bilibili, Xiaohongshu, Zhihu, Douban, and Taobao have further enhanced their multimodal recognition capabilities, dynamically expanded their facial and voiceprint databases, and increased the volume of known violation samples, while intensifying enforcement actions against non-compliant accounts and content, issuing a total of 46 governance announcements. Meanwhile, AI platforms including Doubao, Yuanbao, Qwen, and Wenxin Yiyan have tightened their screening of original training data, strictly restricted the output of prohibited content, and reinforced requirements for labeling AI-generated synthetic content. App stores such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and vivo have strengthened developer onboarding and app review processes, conducting random re-inspections of existing applications. During the campaign, cyberspace authorities also disclosed several representative cases, including the AI "remixing" of classic literary works, generating false disaster and social hotspot information, using AI face-swapping and voice-cloning to impersonate public figures, mass-producing violent or vulgar content, creating AI-generated content that harms minors' rights, and using AI "autonomous" software to operate online troll armies. Relevant authorities will take legal actions against non-compliant AI products and applications, including warnings, fines, removal from app stores, or shutdowns. (Source: BlockBeats)
