KuCoin EU is reinforcing its local compliance framework in Austria as part of its long-term commitment to regulatory alignment and trust-first operations in Europe.

Compliance is a core pillar of trust at KuCoin EU. We believe that robust governance, locally embedded compliance functions, and close alignment with regulatory expectations are fundamental prerequisites for sustainable operations in the European market.

Following recent leadership and key compliance personnel transitions, KuCoin EU took immediate and proactive steps to safeguard the continuity and robustness of its compliance framework. This included the voluntary suspension of new customer onboarding and certain new business activities as of 30 January 2026, alongside the initiation of an expanded local recruitment program focused on appointing experienced AML and sanctions compliance professionals in line with European regulatory standards and supervisory requirements.

These measures were implemented proactively and prior to any formal regulatory action, reflecting KuCoin EU’s long-standing commitment to compliance, transparency, and responsible operations.

In parallel, the Austrian Financial Market Authority (FMA) has issued an information notice regarding the sustainable appointment of certain key compliance functions. The measures referenced by the FMA formalise the voluntary steps already taken by KuCoin EU, and a temporary restriction on new business activities remains in place pending the completion of these appointments.

KuCoin EU will resume comprehensive new business activities only once all required AML and sanctions compliance roles are properly and sustainably filled, in accordance with regulatory expectations. This approach reflects our principle of operating prudently, locally, and responsibly.
