🚀 Tether backs Pact Labs to expand USAT infrastructure in the U.S.
Tether is strengthening its push into the U.S. stablecoin market with a $7 million Series A investment in Pact Labs, a move focused on building payment infrastructure around USAT, its dollar-backed stablecoin designed for American users.
The funding round, led by Tether alongside Blockchange Ventures and Lasagna, aims to develop new use cases for USAT across payroll, credit and everyday payments. Pact Labs will provide the infrastructure layer for companies looking to integrate digital dollars into their financial operations.
The initiative targets one of the main limitations of traditional payment systems: delays caused by batch processing and intermediary networks. By using stablecoin rails, businesses could move funds continuously while reducing friction in salary payments and commercial transactions.
USAT was launched in January 2026 with compliance requirements aligned to the GENIUS Act, the U.S. stablecoin legislation approved by Congress. According to the company’s latest attestation, the stablecoin’s supply surpassed $140 million in April, showing early adoption after its launch.
The investment reflects Tether’s broader strategy of expanding beyond USDT’s global dominance and creating infrastructure for regulated digital dollar use cases in the American market.
Rather than competing only as a stablecoin issuer, Tether is positioning USAT as part of a wider payment ecosystem where digital dollars can move through payroll systems, credit products and financial services.
