Didn’t the SOL mfrs say that the hardware is cheap so they can basically increase the HW requirements of running a node? Now if quantum testing makes it 90% slower… to come back to acceptable speeds as per their standards, how much more are these new HW requirements going be? Very soon SOL could be more centralized than web2

Solana is stepping up its game by collaborating with Eleven to explore technologies resistant to quantum attacks. In a world where quantum computing threatens traditional cryptography, this move could bolster Solana's security and appeal. It's smart for blockchain platforms to be proactive rather than reactive in tech development. #SOL #crypto #quantum

Laughing off the chair because Solana counts signatures from every validator on the block, making the number of transactions appear artificially high. Then, when facing a quantum attack, all validators must switch to quantum-proof signing, causing a speed drop due to signing every single transaction—resulting in chain failure.

$SOL JUST TESTED QUANTUM-RESISTANT CRYPTOGRAPHY. SIGNATURES 40x LARGER. PERFORMANCE 90% SLOWER. These are early trade-offs. Not bugs. Pre-production experiments. Every blockchain that ignores quantum risk gets nuked when it goes live. $SOL is eating the pain now to survive the upgrade. We bid the builders. #SOL #Solana #QuantumSecurity

🚨 “The Solana Foundation, Solana Labs, and partners like Project Eleven are actively testing quantum-resistant upgrades today -- not because it’s a current threat, but to prepare early. The result is clear: stronger security means 20-40x larger data and up to ~90% slower” 🚨

🚨TECH: WILL SOLANA TRADE SPEED FOR SECURITY? @Solana has already moved fast in testing quantum-resistant signatures, after recent studies created fear in the crypto ecosystem that a quantum-threat may be closer than we thought. However, according to CoinDesk/WuBlockchain, early results show a "serious trade-off between security and speed". This is due to the raw size of quantum-resistant signatures.

SOLANA IS TESTING QUANTUM -- AND IT REVEALS THE TRADEOFF The Solana Foundation, Solana Labs, and partners like Project Eleven are actively testing quantum-resistant upgrades today -- not because it’s a current threat, but to prepare early. The result is clear: stronger security means 20-40x larger data and up to ~90% slower performance. That’s the tradeoff. Now comes the hard part -- figuring out how to upgrade millions of wallets and validators without breaking the network, while improving performance. Speed-first systems don’t upgrade for free. The real question isn’t who’s fastest… it’s who can adapt when it matters.
