White House Executive Director Patrick Witt stated that trillions of dollars are poised to enter Bitcoin and the broader crypto market, emphasizing ongoing efforts toward regulatory clarity through market structure legislation (Bitcoin Magazine).

Ironically, if a crypto rewards ban went into law, it would make us more profitable since we payout large amounts in rewards to our customers holding USDC. But we don’t want this to happen, it’s better for customers to get rewards, and it’s better for the US to keep regulated stablecoins competitive on a global stage.

🚨 UPDATE: White House official Patrick Witt said there is significant institutional capital currently waiting for clearer regulatory conditions before entering the crypto market. He suggested that improved regulatory clarity could unlock substantial investment from large financial players. Legislation aimed at providing clearer crypto market structure rules is still under discussion in Congress no bill has been passed yet. #XRP

The anger's earned but "be your own bank" isn't a policy position ... more like a bumper sticker. And it lets banks off the hook by making this sound like a culture war instead of what it actually is - an antitrust problem. 53 banking associations backed the CLARITY Act. The same bill that bans yield on stablecoins. They didn't even try to hide the math: if depositors can earn 3-5% on stables instead of 0.01% in savings accounts, trillions move. So they're asking Congress to make the competition illegal and calling it consumer protection. That's a lobbying disclosure you can read. Big banks don't care about community banks either - they're using them as a sympathetic shield. "Protect small banks" polls better than "protect JPMorgan's deposit base." Where I'd push back though: DeFi doesn't win by telling people to go bankless. It wins by offering products so obviously better that people use them without caring what's underneath. Stablecoins already proved this - most USDT users in emerging markets don't know or care that it's crypto. They just need dollars that work.

Obviously. Being labeled a security for a blockchain company was a death sentence, something everyone was worried about, and ripples battle against the SEC helped shape clarity for the courts by establishing precedence for digital asset classification for everyone else. Now everyone benefits from that ruling. That case is now used for precedence that all future decisions/classifications are made from, including even in Coinbase’s own battle against SEC to argue that again, secondary market sales do not constitute investment contracts.
