SBI VC Trade requests the removal of Japan’s “1 million yen per transaction” limit, which also applies to RLUSD
From the company’s presentation materials presented at the Financial Services Agency’s study group on November 2👇
💵 Challenges in Large-Scale Corporate Payments and International Transfers
SBI VC Trade explains that existing limits, such as the 1 million yen per transaction cap on USDC and RLUSD in Japan, hinder the ability to meet corporate demand.
📝 Requested Removal Target: “Category 4 Electronic Payment Instruments”
Under the classification requiring an equivalent regulatory framework to Japan’s, RLUSD qualifies. The company also calls for the elimination of measures requiring buybacks or other actions for balances exceeding 1 million yen when such funds are unlikely to be used for transfers.
💴 JPYC Highlights Issuance-Level Challenges
The company illustrates a hypothetical scenario where 5 billion JPY is converted into JPYC to distribute 50,000 JPY to each of 100,000 residents. Due to the 1 million JPY issuance limit per transaction, this would require 5,000 separate issuances.
📌 These are all explanations and requests from corporate stakeholders included in the study group materials. No official announcement has been made regarding the removal of these limits.
