China's economic slowdown is deepening: China's GDP grew just +4.3% YoY in Q2 2026, the slowest pace since Q4 2022 and below the government's official target range of +4.5% to +5.0%. This followed +5.0% expansion in Q1, bringing first-half growth of the year to +4.7% YoY. Furthermore, fixed-asset investment fell -5.7% YoY in the H1, worsening from a -4.1% decline in the first 5 months. The decline was driven by property investment plunging -18%, the largest drop on record dating back to 1992. At the same time, retail sales increased +1% YoY in June after a -0.6% decline in May, while auto purchases dropped more than -16%. Weakness is spreading across the world’s 2nd-largest economy.

$XRP is currently holding steady around $1.06, though the market appears to be awaiting a catalyst. While Ripple's regulatory progress in Europe is a positive long-term signal, short-term market sentiment is unusually bullish. I tend to remain cautious when everyone is leaning in the same direction. Right now, I am watching to see if XRP can reclaim the $1.08 level on strong volume or if it will first pull back to the $1.05 support level.

Ripple Nearly Collapsed During SEC Legal Battle Brad Garlinghouse revealed that Ripple nearly shut down after the SEC filed a lawsuit in 2020. Fighting back was no easy task when faced with the regulator's virtually unlimited power, funding, and time. Ripple argued that XRP was designed for payments—much like Bitcoin. Purchasing XRP does not equate to owning a stake in the company; it grants no shares, voting rights, or any form of ownership over Ripple's business operations. To make matters worse, Garlinghouse had met with SEC staff four times between 2017 and 2019, yet—as he noted—no one had warned him that XRP might be classified as a security. The agency subsequently filed lawsuits against both Ripple and Garlinghouse personally. The SEC later dropped the charges against him but continued its legal offensive against Ripple. Garlinghouse condemned the move as unethical. Ripple ultimately survived, but the ordeal highlights just how close the cryptocurrency giant came to collapse. #BitcoinPriceAnalysis #XRP

Since July, market focus regarding XRP has increasingly shifted toward positive regulatory developments. Progress on the "CLARITY Act" has heightened expectations for regulatory transparency, likely further boosting institutional investor confidence. Meanwhile, the assets under management for XRP spot ETFs are steadily approaching the $1 billion mark, reflecting a continuous inflow of institutional capital. From a technical perspective, $1.12 serves as a critical short-term breakout level; if the price successfully holds above this point, it could challenge the $1.15 and $1.20 levels.

XRP is currently maintaining a narrow consolidation range on the 15-minute chart, with prices fluctuating repeatedly, indicating an intense tug-of-war between bulls and bears. Breaking this pattern requires a sustained rally accompanied by high trading volume or a shift in direction driven by overnight market activity. Overall, this prolonged period of sideways movement appears to be a buildup of momentum for the next market move rather than the end of the trend. Should the price successfully break out of the consolidation range, XRP could see a rapid surge; therefore, close attention should be paid to signals of a high-volume breakout in the short term.
