A “Shark Tank” star believes regulatory clarity will be the next major boost for Bitcoin. For many analysts, the market’s recent recovery depends not only on macroeconomic factors but also on regulatory advances capable of attracting new institutional investors. Among the proponents of this view is Kevin O’Leary, an entrepreneur known for the show Shark Tank. According to him, the true catalyst for a new phase of Bitcoin appreciation has not yet materialized. In his view, large investment funds, pension funds, and even sovereign wealth funds are still waiting for clearer rules before increasing their exposure to the sector. The central point of the discussion is the Clarity Act, a bill that seeks to establish a more defined regulatory framework for digital assets in the United States. O'Leary believes that the passage of the bill could unlock a new wave of institutional capital, similar to what occurred with the adoption of Bitcoin ETFs in recent years. Although the market continues to monitor factors such as interest rates, inflation, and geopolitics, there is a growing perception that the next stage of crypto adoption may be driven less by speculation and more by the establishment of a solid regulatory environment.

Ethereum staking hits historic highs and boosts investor confidence. The Ethereum ecosystem started 2026 with unprecedented levels of staking activity, reducing the net supply available on the market and reigniting expectations of a positive impact on prices in the medium term. Data from ValidatorQueue shows that approximately 35.9 million ETH are currently staked, equivalent to about 29.6% of the circulating supply. At current prices, this amount exceeds $119 billion, consolidating Ethereum as one of the largest proof-of-stake networks in economic value ever recorded. At the same time, Ethereum also reached record user activity in January, driven mainly by stablecoin transactions and the resumption of DeFi protocols.

Bitcoin Quantum debuts on testnet and reignites debate on quantum security. The discussion about long-term risks has returned to the center of the crypto debate with the launch of the Bitcoin Quantum testnet, a network proposed to preventively address the threat of quantum computing. The initiative marks the 17th anniversary of Bitcoin's genesis block and is based on the principle that profound adaptations to the original protocol can take years to debate and implement. The testnet was launched by BTQ Technologies Corp. as an independent fork of Bitcoin, using post-quantum cryptography algorithms. The proposal is to replace potentially vulnerable structures with mechanisms that are more resistant to attacks from high-performance computers, creating a network designed from the ground up for this new technological landscape. According to BTQ CEO Olivier Roussy Newton, the project should be seen as a strategic anticipatory measure, rather than a response to an immediate threat. Although experts assess that the quantum risk will not yet be critical in 2026, the consensus is that the complexity of changes to Bitcoin's code base requires preparation well in advance. Because it operates as an autonomous blockchain, with its own token, block explorer, and independent mining, Bitcoin Quantum has also generated criticism within the community. Part of the market questions the legitimacy of the initiative, seen by some as opportunism around the Bitcoin name.

Quantum computing’s threat to Bitcoin has made a Wall Street strategist step away from Bitcoin, insisting the technology is not far away from bringing down the security protocols used by blockchain networks as the world sees. Christopher Wood, the global head of equity strategy at Jefferies, has removed Bitcoins from his model portfolio, ending a position he had once lauded as a hedge against monetary debasement. Wood revealed he sold the coins in the latest edition of his Greed & Fear newsletter, where he said the forward steps quantum computing has taken threaten the foundations of Bitcoin’s investment case.
