One of the most naive takes on CT now is that it will be trivial for existing perps DEX’s to go from non-compliance to compliance. I lived through Dodd Frank, and also saw what happened when some crypto exchanges in the USA had to add KYC. No bueno. It’s a killer for many given loss of business, additional compliance resources, and general distraction. So my advice to pre-launch DEX’s? Wait. Wait for @vnovakovski to get a license and follow his lead as @Lighter_xyz seems to be in pole position. In the meantime? Build productive AI tools that capture users and agents that can be integrated when you do launch in a compliant way. The way things are going, that solution may actually become bigger (and way less risky) than a DEX – and that becomes what you focus on. And don’t be afraid of the pivot when the facts change.

In case you haven’t noticed, the race to post-quantum cryptography (pqc) readiness is now full on. One can make an argument that nothing else matters – as if we lose cryptography – most chains, wallets, tokens, DEX’s, and apps relying on elliptic curve signatures are now susceptible. And the fact is – only a few insiders know how close we are to a credible cryptographic threat – everyone else is guessing, pushing narratives, or talking their bags (given the potential ramifications to those bags). Roadmaps are now plentiful – but roadmaps without firm delivery dates, deployed solutions, or verifiable security won’t do much good when that day comes. Meanwhile, AI continues to advance and it’s not going to wait around for “slow crypto” to upgrade. Ironically, the biggest players are the most exposed. High-value targets, systemic risk, complex dependencies, and slow upgrade cycles. Who’s going to get there first with an actual solution? Trillion dollar question.

If you’re building in DeFi, you should be rooting for onchain verifiable intelligence. As if AI continues to live in this current centralized world where a couple big players pull all the strings – you really think they’re going to route to some blockchain they get zero benefit from? Nope. When the revenue pressure comes, they’re going to do rev share deals with their centralized finance friends and route to wherever they get the biggest kickback. And they “own” the client so they can do what they want. Yet another reason I’m prioritizing onchain AI. Both the intelligence and related activity should live on decentralized blockchains.
