July 6, 2018 At a summer BBQ, I met a guy who managed money for a private family office 6 people managing $1B for 1 family I asked if they held any Bitcoin. He laughed and said no - it was too volatile and they didn't really understand it We spent the next hour in the pool talking money and hard assets. He asked great questions that challenged my early understanding Before leaving, I made a pitch: "Get the family off zero. Allocate 1% ($10M) to Bitcoin" We both laughed, said goodbye, and never spoke again Bitcoin was ~$6,500 that day That $10M would’ve bought 1,538.5 BTC Today? That’s ~$80,000,000+ To be fair, risk management rules would've made them rebalance as soon as it hit 2–5% of the portfolio, missing most of the exponential upside anyway Still, I wonder if he ever remembers the "Bitcoin psychopath" from the pool that day
