🚨FRANKLIN TEMPLETON ADDS $150M TO XRP LEDGER — BUT WHY IS EVERYTHING IN ONE WALLET?
A major institutional RWA development has landed on the XRP Ledger.
Franklin Templeton recorded approximately $150 million in new tokenized money-market fund shares, expanding its sgBENJI position on XRPL to nearly 193 million shares, valued at approximately $200 million using the transaction-recorded price.
But there is a detail that deserves much more attention than the headline.
All the shares are held in ONE on-chain wallet.
THE NUMBERS
• Two recorded subscriptions: $75 million each
• New issuance: approximately 144.37 million sgBENJI shares
• Total XRPL supply after issuance: approximately 192.7 million shares
• Transaction-recorded share price: $1.039
• Estimated value: approximately $200 million
• Visible holder addresses: one
WHAT IS sgBENJI?
It represents shares in Franklin Templeton's Singapore-domiciled OnChain U.S. Dollar Short-Term Money Market Fund.
The underlying fund invests in short-term dollar-denominated money-market instruments. Investment returns are reflected in the fund share price.
This is fundamentally different from an ordinary cryptocurrency token or a dollar stablecoin.
WHY DOES ONE WALLET MATTER?
The receiving address reportedly shares eight authorized signers with Franklin Templeton's issuing account.
That suggests substantial operational control over the position.
However, a single blockchain wallet does not necessarily mean a single beneficial owner.
An institution or custodian may maintain one on-chain account while recording multiple client positions separately.
The public ledger alone does not establish how many investors are behind the balance.
THE BIGGER RWA QUESTION
Issuing tokenized securities is one achievement.
Distributing them across independent investors, enabling genuine secondary-market liquidity and supporting reliable settlement are different challenges.
Investors should distinguish:
• Tokenized asset issuance
• Actual investor adoption
• On-chain transfer activity
• Executable market liquidity
• Redemption rights and custody arrangements
AND WHAT ABOUT XRP?
More tokenized fund shares on XRPL demonstrate increasing use of the network infrastructure.
But the $150 million figure should NOT be interpreted as $150 million of spot XRP purchases.
Network adoption and direct demand for the native token are related questions, not interchangeable metrics.
THE TAKEAWAY
Franklin Templeton's expansion is meaningful institutional tokenization progress.
Yet its most revealing detail may be what we still cannot see: the underlying investor distribution and real market liquidity.
Is this a major step toward mainstream RWA adoption — or another example of tokenization advancing faster than secondary-market development?
