Circle releases quantum-resistant roadmap

Circle outlined a four-phase post-quantum security plan for Arc, starting with wallet protection and expanding to infrastructure and validator upgrades.

Post-quantum isn’t a future problem anymore, it’s a current design constraint. At EthCC, Alexander Lee and Andrey Ivasko break it down clearly: signature size impacts everything, tradeoffs across schemes are real, and implementation risk may hit before quantum does. Miden is approaching this with the right mindset measure, compare, and stay ahead while Ethereum explores paths like XMSS. This is the kind of groundwork that actually matters long term.@0xMiden

Solana just tested quantum-resistant signatures on testnet. The results? Not great. Signatures ballooned 20–40x in size. Network speed dropped ~90%. And here's the kicker: Solana exposes public keys directly in every transaction. That means 100% of wallets are sitting ducks once quantum computers get strong enough. Most chains hide keys until you spend. @solana doesn't. So now it's a tradeoff: keep the speed, or prep for a threat that might arrive in 5 years, maybe 10. Either way, this isn't just a Solana problem. It's a preview of what every high-throughput chain will face when quantum computing stops being theoretical. How do you even price that risk?

Solana stress-tested post-quantum signatures with Project Eleven, and the results are sobering. Signatures became 20-40x larger, causing a ~90% drop in network performance. Worse: Solana exposes public keys on-chain, leaving 100% of wallets vulnerable to future quantum attacks.

Quantum computers could break $BTC by 2030. But Circle with Arc is changing the rules: the mainnet will launch with post-quantum protection for wallets and validators. Institutions migrate opt-in, with zero downtime. While others wait for catastrophe, Arc is building the future. Who will make it in time? #QuantumCrypto #ArcNetwork #CryptoFuture

The biggest Bitcoin fork in history may not be decided by Bitcoiners. @nic_carter thinks that if quantum forces the issue, the 10 to 20 most important custodians on the planet could make the call. "They could effectively say: we will only honor a fork where the historic coins are burned, period." At that point, the version backed by exchanges, ETFs, and custodians becomes canonical Bitcoin.

Samson Mow pushes back against calls to rush Bitcoin’s move to post-quantum cryptography, warning it could introduce new vulnerabilities. 🙌

Crypto’s next narrative is already forming. after AI after privacy quantum is next @Google is already flagging risks to bitcoin security and the market is reacting Quantum-resistant tokens are starting to move. But this feels familiar.. 2 years ago it was AI - projects pivoted overnight - everyone suddenly became “AI” the same will happen here dead projects will rebrand and claim they are quantum-resistant but like every cycle real builders vs narrative chasers will separate. Here are some of the latest crypto updates about it: • @circle future-proofs Arc blockchain against quantum computing threats • Academic Research Puts $XRP Ledger at the Front of Quantum-Resistant Technology • The @ethereumfndn has made post-quantum security a top strategic priority (announced January 2026), forming a dedicated PQ research and engineering team. • @solana An experimental opt-in tools like the Winternitz Vault (hash-based one-time signatures for secure asset storage in smart contracts). This adds quantum resistance without changing the core high-speed network. • Layer-2s and others (@Optimism , @Starknet): Early conceptual work on PQC upgrades; Starknet benefits from STARK proofs (hash-based and inherently quantum-resistant). • Industry players like @coinbase have set up quantum advisory boards, and toolkits (01 Quantum's February 2026 migration toolkit) are emerging to help chains transition. • @Algorand - created Falcon-1024 (NIST lattice-based) + state proofs • @hedera - SHA-384 + Dilithium (via SEALSQ hardware chips) Hope you learned something.

Just in: $USDC issuer Circle highlights quantum-resistant roadmap for Layer 1 Arc. Warns 'Q-Day' could arrive by 2030, urging institutions to prepare. A key risk management focus as crypto evolves. Monitor for volatility.

Is there a possibility that Bitcoin fails the Quantum challenge, and $ETH takes the #1 spot? @nic_carter: "Yeah, I think that's possible... The complacency im seeing on the Bitcoin side is only matched by the @ethereumfndn's proactivity."
