i asked Justin what were major big ticket items that lean ethereum is looking to address. what @drakefjustin responded with really reflected the first principal and meticulous thinking of @ethereum: "...the two big ticket roadmap items that I felt were difficult to do incrementally were number one, post quantum security, because it basically involves ripping out the cryptographic guts of Ethereum as it exists. And the cryptographic guts touch most of the code base. And the second big ticket item is known as fast finality, where instead of finalizing on multiple epochs, roughly 15 minutes, we would finalize in a couple of slots, roughly seconds. And again, that's kind of such a major rearchitecture that I felt that it was mostly a rewrite. And if we're going to do like two big rewrites, we might as well bundle them together for efficiency reasons. And in terms of like some of the technical debt, one of the things that we want to get to long-term is to be able to snarkify the entirety of the consensus layer in real time using commodity hardware, like a laptop CPU. And this can only really be done if no parts of the design are snark unfriendly. By starting from scratch, we can make sure that we don't make all of the mistakes that are now obvious in hindsight but were very much non-obvious five, six years ago. Another kind of reason to start thinking more from scratch, from first principles is that the beacon chain would be 10 years old and I was planning five years into the future. We will have learned a lot. And I felt that there was an opportunity to have proof of stake 2.0..." among all the major L1s, seems like only Ethereum is the ONLY ONE who are working as per a serious plan for being compatible with post-quantum future.
