Usual (USUAL) is a cryptocurrency associated with the Usual Protocol. The protocol issues USD0, a stablecoin fully backed 1:1 by Real-World Assets (RWAs) like U.S. Treasury Bills, offering users a stable and secure asset within the decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.

The USUAL token serves as the governance token of the Usual Protocol, granting holders ownership and voting rights. Unlike typical governance tokens that rely on hype or offer vague, symbolic voting rights, USUAL is designed to be a real, value-driven asset, underpinned by tangible revenue streams generated by the protocol itself.

The tokenomics of USUAL are structured around two main phases:

1. USUAL Token Issuance: USUAL tokens are issued based on the amount of USD0++ minted. Each minting event triggers the issuance of a corresponding number of USUAL tokens, reflecting the growth in protocol activity and underlying assets.

2. Distribution of USUAL to Value Contributors: USUAL tokens are allocated to users who contribute value to the Usual protocol.

Usual Protocol offers a decentralized stablecoin system that integrates Real-World Assets (RWAs) into the DeFi ecosystem. Here's how it works:

1. USD0 Stablecoin: You can mint USD0 by depositing USDC or other eligible assets into the protocol. USD0 is fully backed 1:1 by RWAs, such as U.S. Treasury Bills, ensuring stability and security. This design provides a stable, secure asset independent of traditional banking systems, fully transferable, and accessible within the DeFi ecosystem.

2. USD0++ Liquid Staking: By locking your USD0 into USD0++, you can earn additional rewards. USD0++ is fully exchangeable, interchangeable, and tradable, providing liquidity while safeguarding the principal from market volatility. This staking mechanism allows you to earn yield in the form of USUAL tokens, enhancing your returns.

3. USUAL Governance Token: As a holder of USUAL tokens, you gain ownership and governance rights within the Usual Protocol. USUAL is designed to be a revenue-driven token tied to real economic value generated by the protocol. This structure ensures that as the protocol grows, so does the intrinsic value of USUAL, aligning your interests with the protocol's success.

Usual Protocol launched on July 10, 2024. The protocol was developed by Usual Labs, founded by a team of experienced professionals in finance, technology, and product development, dedicated to revolutionizing the financial landscape with innovative solutions.

Since its launch, Usual has achieved significant milestones, including reaching $225 million in Total Value Locked (TVL) within two months, ranking among the top 15 stablecoins.

In September 2024, Usual announced its Token Generation Event (TGE) roadmap, detailing plans for the distribution of its governance token, $USUAL. The TGE was scheduled for mid-November 2024, marking the transition from the pre-launch phase to the maturity phase of the protocol.

The roadmap includes features such as $USUAL staking, fair distribution through the Pills campaign airdrop, USD0++ enhancements, and the development of governance mechanisms. These initiatives aim to empower users with ownership and decision-making capabilities within the protocol.

The USUAL token offers several key features:

1. Governance: Holding USUAL grants you voting rights, allowing you to influence protocol decisions and treasury management.

2. $USUAL Staking Rewards: By staking USUAL, you can earn additional tokens, incentivizing long-term participation.

3. Early Unstaking: Starting Q1 2025, you can unlock staked USD0++ before the end of the lock-up period by burning a portion of your USUAL tokens.

Additionally, you can trade USUAL tokens on cryptocurrency exchanges like KuCoin. KuCoin listed USUAL on its Spot Market on December 18, 2024, allowing you to buy and sell USUAL/USDT pairs.

USUAL tokens are minted in proportion to the Total Value Locked (TVL) in USD0++, the protocol's liquid staking token. This approach ties token issuance directly to protocol revenue, ensuring that supply growth reflects actual economic activity. As TVL increases, the rate of USUAL token issuance decreases, promoting scarcity and enhancing the token's intrinsic value over time.

USUAL Token Distribution Model

1. Community-Centric Allocation: 90% of USUAL tokens are allocated to the community, rewarding users who contribute to the protocol's growth through activities like staking and liquidity provision. This model ensures broad participation and fair value distribution.

2. Insider Allocation: Only 10% of the total supply is reserved for insiders, including investors and team members, minimizing the risk of centralization and excessive insider control.
