The PLUMS project is about creating a fun and light-hearted memecoin based on the Ethereum blockchain, which aims to capture the growing popularity of meme coins and serve as a safe haven for future Degen liquidity. It also focuses on building a strong community that connects users through the power of memes. 

PLUMS is unique because its supply is not centralized to individual wallets, and it involved an airdrop to contributors during its initial launch. Additionally, it has adopted a no-tax policy, meaning that holders do not have to pay taxes on their earnings, which can be an attractive feature for investors.

The project was initiated by a group of individuals as a tribute to the Plums internet meme that gained worldwide notoriety from the Ashley Schaeffer (Will Farrell) meme from the Eastbound and Down TV show. It was launched on April 28, 2023.
