Babylon is a pioneering project that enables Bitcoin holders to stake their BTC in a self-custodial manner to enhance the security of Proof-of-Stake (PoS) networks. This innovative approach allows BTC holders to earn rewards while contributing to the stability of various blockchain ecosystems.

Established in 2022, Babylon was co-founded by Stanford University Professor David Tse and Dr. Fisher Yu. Babylon was founded in 2022 by Stanford Professor David Tse and Dr. Fisher Yu. With a strong academic foundation and a mission to bridge Bitcoin’s economic power with PoS security models, Babylon quickly gained traction. In May 2024, it raised $70M in a round led by Paradigm, with support from Polychain and others.

Babylon’s development milestones include:

> Aug 2024: Launch of Bitcoin staking protocol (Phase 1) — Over 57,000 BTC staked by 135,000+ users.

> Q1 2025: Launch of Babylon Chain (Phase 2) — A Bitcoin-Secured Network (BSN) and marketplace for finality providers.

> 2025 onward (Phase 3): Introduction of multi-staking and support for multiple PoS chains.

The BABY token’s TGE and airdrop registration were held between Feb 25 – Mar 15, 2025, to reward early adopters.

The BABY token serves several roles in the Babylon ecosystem:

> Governance: Participate in protocol decisions and community proposals.
> Transaction Fees: Pay for gas fees on the Babylon Chain.
> Incentives: Earned by BTC stakers, validators, and PoS partner chains as security rewards.
> Staking Rewards: Distributed to BTC stakers who contribute to Babylon's economic security layer.

You can earn BABY tokens in multiple ways:

Babylon's tokenomics outline a total supply of 10 billion BABY tokens, distributed as follows:​

3. Early Private Sale Investors: 30.5%​
4. Team: 15%​
5. Advisors: 3.5%​

Additionally, 6% of the total supply (600 million BABY tokens) was allocated for an airdrop to early adopters, including first-phase stakers, Finality Providers, Pioneer Pass holders, and GitHub contributors.
