Tesla is making waves in Korea. @elonmusk Elon Musk: “Korea is amazing.” While German automakers focus on matching their competitors’ standards and highlighting Hyundai’s weaknesses, Tesla has proudly claimed the #1 spot among Korean car consumers. May sales figures: • Tesla Model Y: 8,762 units • Kia Sorento: 7,836 units • Hyundai Grandeur: 5,183 units In total, Tesla sold 10,866 vehicles in Korea last month—more than BMW and Mercedes-Benz combined. Even more astonishing: About one-third of all imported cars sold in Korea this year have been Teslas. Tesla has now been Korea’s top-selling imported brand for four consecutive months.
