Amazon and Corning just teamed up on a multi-billion-dollar deal to ramp up U.S. production of optical fiber and connectivity gear that powers AI data centers. The partnership will create 1,000 jobs at Corning’s North Carolina facilities and expand a technician training program with Catawba Valley Community College. It builds on Corning’s recent Nvidia collaboration and their plans to grow domestic fiber capacity by over 50% while boosting optical connectivity manufacturing tenfold. This is another clear signal that the AI infrastructure buildout is moving onshore fast.
