Tesla’s SOTA casting combined with SpaceX’s turbomachinery and superalloy expertise puts them in the perfect spot to nail that ultra-precise chemistry of single-crystal nickel superalloy blade/vane casting, and maybe even vertically integrate and start cranking out full gas turbines themselves. Elon Musk explicitly stated this in his February 2026 Dwarkesh podcast: to overcome the power bottleneck for AI/data centers (like xAI’s Colossus), “SpaceX and Tesla will probably have to make the turbine blades, the vanes and blades, internally.”
