As reported by Jinse, in October 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the seizure of 127,272.06953176 BTC from Cambodian businessman Tsz Chan, formerly the chairman of Taizi Group. The batch, valued at up to $150 billion, was initially stolen in a 2020 hack of the LuBian mining pool and remained dormant for four years before being linked to U.S. government-controlled addresses. The DOJ used a civil forfeiture process, asserting jurisdiction based on 259 U.S. victims, and did not pursue traditional extradition. The case has sparked global debate over the legal status of Bitcoin, cross-border jurisdiction, and the challenges of regulating digital assets.
