As reported by MetaEra, on November 3 (UTC+8), Elizabeth Warren’s lawyer Ben Stafford refuted Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao’s defamation claims in a letter to his lawyer Teresa Goody Guillén. The letter stated that Warren’s X post claiming Zhao admitted to money laundering was 'completely accurate' and not malicious. It noted that Zhao pleaded guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act, a U.S. anti-money laundering law, but did not admit to other money laundering charges, and no regulatory fines were involved. Zhao’s lawyer warned of a defamation lawsuit if Warren did not retract the statement, calling it an abuse of power to damage Zhao’s reputation.
