As reported by Bijiie, the bodies of Russian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Roman Novak and his wife Anna Novak were discovered dismembered and buried in a desert near Dubai on October 3. The couple had been missing since early October, sparking a month-long search after relatives lost contact with them. They were last seen traveling to the remote Hatta region near the Oman border to meet an 'unknown investor.' Investigators believe they were lured to a fake business meeting that turned into a failed kidnapping and extortion plot. Mobile signals traced the couple to Hatta and Oman, then briefly to Cape Town, South Africa, before disappearing on October 4. Authorities suspect the signals were deliberately altered to mislead investigators. Roman Novak, a former fraud convict, had recently returned to the crypto space after serving a six-year sentence in 2020. Russian and UAE officials are cooperating on the case, which has caused shock in the international crypto community.
