As per Bpaynews, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) cut the Official Cash Rate (OCR) by 25 basis points to 2.25%, the lowest since mid-2022. The decision, in line with expectations, was accompanied by a hawkish outlook that effectively signals the end of the easing cycle. The NZD rose about 1% to a one-week high, and the probability of another near-term cut fell to 22%. The RBNZ now projects the OCR at 2.25% in early 2026, rising to 2.65% by late 2027. Five of six committee members supported the cut, with upside risks to inflation and output noted despite excess capacity in the economy.
