Citing BitcoinSistimi, Wall Street Journal reporter Nick Timiraos, known as the FED spokesperson, revealed a deepening disagreement among Fed members over the December 2025 interest rate decision. Timiraos noted that the division between hawkish and dovish officials is the most severe in nearly eight years under Jerome Powell. Some officials argue for a rate cut due to slowing inflation and limited economic impact from tariffs, while others oppose it due to sticky inflation and tariff effects. The US government shutdown and delayed data releases have further complicated the decision. According to the Fed Watch Tool, markets are pricing in a 63.4% chance of a 25 basis point rate cut and 36.6% chance of holding rates steady.
