FBI Director Kash Patel allegedly failed to disclose over $100,000 in MSTR holdings within the required 45-day period. He filed the report in May 2026, months after purchasing the stock in November 2025. Patel attributed the delay to a "communication error." The incident has sparked debate amid growing interest in altcoins to watch. MSTR’s price has since fallen by approximately half, impacting sentiment as tracked by the Fear & Greed Index. The Justice Department stated no conflict of interest existed, but critics argue the delay undermines public trust.

BlockBeats report, July 2: FBI Director Kash Patel is accused of failing to timely disclose his investment position in MicroStrategy (MSTR) as required.

Patel purchased between $100,000 and $250,000 worth of MSTR shares on November 21 of last year but did not file the required disclosure until May 26 of the following year, exceeding the statutory 45-day filing deadline. He later explained that the delay resulted from "communication errors" and "inadvertent oversight."

Under the U.S. STOCK Act, senior government officials are required to disclose stock transactions exceeding $1,000 within 45 days of the transaction. This incident has prompted scrutiny from government oversight agencies, raising concerns about potential violations of relevant legal regulations.

Although the Department of Justice stated that the transaction presented no conflict of interest, regulatory observers criticized the delayed disclosure for undermining institutional credibility and once again called for a ban on federal officials trading individual stocks. Since its purchase, MSTR's stock price has declined by approximately half, but it remains one of the key assets for institutional Bitcoin investment.
