SPK is the native governance and staking token of Spark, an on-chain capital allocator that intelligently deploys stablecoin liquidity across DeFi protocols, CeFi platforms, and real-world assets to optimize yields at scale. Built to align the interests of token holders with the long-term growth of the protocol, SPK enables participation in Spark’s decentralized governance, secures the network via staking, and distributes rewards to contributors. With deployments across Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Unichain, and Gnosis Chain—and over $3.5 billion in managed liquidity—Spark uses SPK to balance capital efficiency, risk management, and community-driven decision-making.

SPK operates within Spark’s ecosystem through two primary functions: governance and staking. When you hold SPK, you can participate in off-chain Snapshot votes to signal support for protocol upgrades, parameter changes, and new integrations. In the near future, staked SPK will help secure Spark’s products—such as its lending markets and yield-bearing stablecoins—by providing a collateral layer against potential bad debt or network risks. In return for staking, participants earn Spark Points (a non-tokenized reward metric) and will later receive protocol-controlled reward distributions, aligning incentives between long-term holders and the protocol’s health.

Spark launched its mainnet products in mid-2023, leveraging Sky’s $6.5 billion+ stablecoin reserves to seed deep liquidity across multiple chains. Seeing strong demand for a tokenized governance mechanism, the team designed SPK and minted a 10 billion–token genesis supply, with distribution managed via a 10-year SPK farming campaign. In late 2024, Spark published its SPK tokenomics and developer docs, set up GitHub repositories for its core contracts, and prepared for a multi-phase airdrop (“Ignition,” “Pre-farming,” etc.) to reward early adopters and ecosystem partners. Today, SPK stands ready to empower community governance as Spark rolls out its next-gen yield products.

SPK underpins three critical areas of Spark’s protocol:

Governance: Off-chain Snapshot voting lets SPK holders influence product parameters, new integrations, and treasury allocations.

Staking Security: Future product security will rely on staked SPK as a backstop against protocol risks, aligning economic incentives for network safety.

Reward Distribution: Stakers and community participants earn Spark Points and SPK rewards from protocol revenue streams and farming campaigns, driving deeper engagement and alignment between user growth and protocol sustainability.

Farming (Pre-farming Campaign): Lock stablecoins (e.g., USDS, USDC) in Spark’s farming contracts to accrue SPK over time—65% of the genesis supply is allocated to these farms across ten years.

Ignition Airdrop: Early adopters of Spark-powered products qualify for the Ignition airdrop through a snapshot of on-chain activity, with tokens distributed directly to their wallets.

Community & Ambassador Programs: Participate in referral initiatives, governance discussions, or developer bounties to earn SPK from dedicated incentive pools managed by the Spark DAO.

SPK has a fixed supply of 10 billion tokens at genesis, with the following high-level allocation:

35% (3.5 B) to Spark ecosystem incentives (farming, airdrops)

65% (6.5 B) held by Sky for distribution over a 10-year farming campaign

No tokens are currently liquid; all allocations adhere to defined vesting and distribution schedules. Sky retains the ability to mint additional SPK only under extreme circumstances (e.g., to cover protocol bad debt), ensuring long-term sustainability while protecting token value.

Although SPK has not been officially airdropped yet, here’s how to prepare and claim once live:

Visit the official Spark App at app.spark.fi/spk/airdrop.

Connect the same wallet you used to qualify (e.g., MetaMask on Ethereum).

Check Eligibility: The interface will show if you qualified for Ignition, Pre-farming, or other phases.

Claim: Once the “Claim” button appears, follow the on-screen prompts and approve the transaction in your wallet.

Deadline Awareness: Each airdrop phase has its own claiming window (e.g., 6 weeks, 6 months), so claim before the deadline—details are listed on the airdrop page.
